I prefer Liam Gallagher after the Brits.

Note: I'm trying to get some writing practice in, which explains the formality etc. I don't even really prefer Liam Gallagher that much, I just felt like trying to write something interesting.

The Brit awards are widely respected, running since the early 80's. Aiming to showcase the previous years musical talent, it's always an glitzy yet positive affair. it's also representative of the British Phonographic Industry, the trade association of our record industry, so gaining an award is a big deal for any artist. It's almost a seal of approval by the industry themselves, and the reputation for drama means The Brits are a big event on the musical calender. This year was the first year we saw absolutely live footage since 1996, when Pulp's Jarvis Cocker threw a Mooney at Micheal Jackson During his performance of "Earth Song".

So unless you've spent the past 24 hours living like a leper, you've probably heard about Oasis been awarded best Brits album of the past 30 years for "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?" and the interesting speech given by front man Liam Gallagher. Think what you will of him, at least it's not a Katie Price like her one minute, hate her the next affair. He's always been a bit of a knob, so fair game for sticking it out, lets be honest.

If you haven't seen what went on, here it is:

I've never understood people's real love for him, but I have gained a lot of respect for him after this event. You could have had a pretty good crack at guessing Lady Gaga would pick a few up, and do you really think a band who's rise to fame is through X-factor (JLS) deserve to be given a "breakthrough" award? They always seem a little bit too safe for me.

If the funniest thing Peter Kay could think of saying after Liam left the stage was "What a knob head." then British comedy must be atrocious. Gallagher was without malice, and the nervous clapping from the crowd as they came to terms with what they'd just seen, was like watching The Brits take a real look in the mirror.
I imagine a lot of people have always hated the Brits and a lot of people have always hated Liam Gallagher. I intend to jump on neither bandwagon; the whole process shows we should expect nothing more from hard man Gallagher, and we should expect nothing more than obvious winners and arse-kissing at the Brit awards.
